London to Brighton

At the beginning of the trailer there is a wide shot of Piccadilly Circus which is one of London’s most visited sites and is shown in many movies, There for the audience automatically know that the trailer is set in London. There is then a young girl who is seen sitting at a train station, a place were homeless people usually taking shelter from the weather and to beg for money. There is then a midshot of the girl in a shot with other older homeless scruffy looking women both of them smoking. This connotes that the girl is not in the right company also children being easily influenced this puts the audience in suspense as there aren’t many positive outcomes from a young homeless girl. There is also a lot of diegetic sound which builds to the suspense, The piano in the background slowly to where it disappears and the tempo of the music increases and ends with a gunshot which symbolises someone being hurt or maybe being killed. This than relates back to the mystery of what exactly happened in the trailer, why it happened and why the girl was homeless in the first place. There all mysteries.

Gender:
In this trailer the young girl is seen as vulnerable and being a female she is more likely to be a victim as shown in the trailer she is used for sex. During the trailer there is a scene in which both women are shown to be scared and have been abused. This again shows that they have been abused by the men shown in the trailer. It also shows men to be more dominant and in control by using women and even young girls to satisfy their sexual needs. Throughout the scene men are shown to be dominant to the point where the women are covered in blood and bruises and are chased by the man holding a gun. This film can be seen as degrading for women as women are shown to be vulnerable, scruffy dirty and victims.
In what ways is the film London to Brighton typical of a low budget British film? :
The trailer is typical of a low budget film as it did not have much publicity such as the trailer being on TV or billboards; the costs were kept to a minimal. Also the actors in the movie were new actors or not big named actors therefore costing less than having a Hollywood star. There is also no high tech equipment used, No special effects or stunts. Also the director of the film is not well known .


In what ways does the trailer promote the film to its target audience?:

It shows a young vulnerable girl in which most teenagers can relate to as they themselves are vulnerable. Also there is a fair amount of action and suspense in the trailer appealing to most men and even women as the main character is a women
