• What film genre are the most popular at present? Why do you think this is? (Consider technology, social & economic context)
In my opinion the most popular film genres are horror and comedy. In the stressful and busy lifestyles of today people need time to eliminate the stresses they face and just kick back and have a laugh whether it is with family , friends or even alone. Horrors also have a similar effect as being involved into the movie and not knowing what is going to happen builds suspense and then again is very entertaining.
Horror movies are also popular with recent audiences as new technology has made it possible to get realistic effects and catch the audience’s attention as you don’t really see crazy men chasing people with chain saws. This is what makes the audience
Comedy spoofs like scary movie make horror comedies, Using violence and other things generally horror movies use to make scenes funny. This is usually done by making things really unrealistic which make it funny as it is nothing like reality.
• What genres do you think were popular back in the 1930’s and 1940’s? Why? Give examples and show evidence of research

Movies popular in those days were usually heavily sounded black and white war films as this is what audiences could relate to but other genres such as gangster movies and comedies were shown. Films like “Stars” (1930) and “The adventures of Robin Hood (1938) were popular in days were entertainment consisted of either posters or the radio.
